Dedublarea is my graduation piece. I've tried to question the utility, accessibility and intelligibly of dance, to approach its problematics with irony and detachment. This distance has allowed me to talk about choreographic issues from the inside without being sucked into them. I've placed myself lucidly in the middle of quotation, clichés, reference, stereotypes. I've transformed poor examples of choreographic conventions and rules in good and usable material, and this process has become a source of inspiration. What came out of it was avoiding issues, dissimulation, hiding the true identity.
Madalina Dan studied at the "Floria Capsali" Choreography Highschool and at the Choreography Department of the University of Drama and Film in Bucharest. From 1998 untill 2003 she was a member of "Oleg Danovski" Ballet Company in Constanta. In 2008 she participated in Danceweb Scholarship Programme-Vienna.
She collaborated with choreographers: Cosmin Manolescu, Vava Stefanescu, Lisa Naugle, Christine Bastin, Pierr Wiss, Jean Guizerix...She is the author of several performances: Dash To Transcendent, Just Like A Woman, Need For Speed, and Dedublarea.
Since 2005, she teaches contemporary dance for amateurs in the National Dance Center Bucharest. She studies playwriting at The University of Drama and Film in Bucharest.
